By ticking the checkbox during registration and creating your account, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms are available in English. The contractual language is English.

The Service

SyncFiction is an AI-enhanced fiction reading platform. AI-powered text processing is an inseparable core component of the service. The contractual subject is the provision of:

  Fiction syncing — syncing fiction content from Royal Road to your library

  EPUB generation — generating EPUB files from fiction content
• •
  Delivery — delivering EPUB files to your connected providers (Dropbox, email)
• •
  AI-powered text processing — semantic search, chapter summaries, character extraction, fiction recaps, and AI chat, integrated into the reading experience
• •
  Reading progress — tracking your reading progress across fictions

Fiction content is automatically processed by AI systems upon syncing to enable the full SyncFiction experience. The service cannot be provided without this processing.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

Your Account

You must create an account to use SyncFiction. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Your account is personal; sharing is prohibited unless explicitly permitted. Multiple accounts created to circumvent limits or sanctions are prohibited.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or its infrastructure

  Interfere with or disrupt the service or its systems
• •
  Use automated tools to access the service beyond its intended functionality

  Circumvent rate limits, quotas, or access restrictions

Content

Fiction content

Fiction content synced through SyncFiction originates from Royal Road and is the intellectual property of its respective authors. SyncFiction acts as a technical intermediary and makes no representations regarding the legal status of fiction content on Royal Road. You are responsible for ensuring you are entitled to access and use the content, including compliance with Royal Road's terms of service.

User-uploaded content

You retain ownership of EPUB files you upload. By uploading content, you grant SyncFiction a non-exclusive, limited permission to process it as necessary to provide the service, including AI text processing. This permission ends when you delete the upload or your account.

AI-generated content

Summaries, character profiles, chat responses, and other AI-generated outputs are provided for informational purposes only. AI outputs may be inaccurate. SyncFiction does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of AI-generated content.

Availability

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control. Statutory rights remain unaffected.

Liability

Liability for damages is limited to the extent permitted by German law:

  We are liable without limitation for damages caused by intent or gross negligence.

  We are liable without limitation for injury to life, body, or health.
• •
  For slight negligence in breach of a material contractual obligation (Kardinalpflicht), our liability is limited to the foreseeable, contract-typical damage.

  We are not liable for slight negligence in breach of non-material contractual obligations.
• •
  Liability under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz) remains unaffected.

The above limitations also apply to the liability of our legal representatives and vicarious agents (Erfullungsgehilfen).

Termination

The contract runs for an indefinite period and ends upon account deletion or termination.

By you: You may delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Upon deletion, your data will be handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

By us: We may terminate or suspend your account for material breach of these terms. In non-urgent cases, we will issue a warning and a reasonable deadline to remedy the breach before termination. Immediate suspension or termination without prior notice is permitted where necessary to protect the security or integrity of the service, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations.

Your right to extraordinary termination for good cause (§ 314 BGB) remains unaffected.

Changes

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of changes at least 30 days in advance via email or in-app notification. The notification will describe the changes and inform you that they will take effect if you do not object within 30 days. If you object, your account will be terminated. If you do not object within 30 days, the updated terms will apply.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. If you are a consumer within the EU, you also retain the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.

If any provision of these terms is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect. The invalid provision shall be replaced by the applicable statutory rule (§ 306 BGB).
